HubSpot credits explained: what they cost and what uses them
Last verified September 26, 2026 · Next check October 26, 2026
HubSpot credits are the usage-based currency behind HubSpot's AI agents and some automation. Every paid plan includes a monthly allowance: 500 credits on Starter, 3,000 on Professional and 5,000 on Enterprise, with more on Data Hub and Customer Platform plans. Extra credits cost about a cent each. Unused credits expire every month.
Key numbers
| Starter | Professional | Enterprise | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Included credits (single hub or Smart CRM) | 500 | 3,000 | 5,000 |
| Included credits (Data Hub or Customer Platform) | 500 | 5,000 | 10,000 |

How your allowance is calculated
You don't get credits per hub or per seat. You get one allowance, set by the highest tier you own. Marketing Hub Professional plus Sales Hub Enterprise gives you 5,000 credits, not 8,000. Only users on paid seats (and partner seats) can spend them. Free and view-only users can't.

Some features charge once per action. Others charge every month for as long as they're switched on. Intent monitoring is the common one: 10 credits per company, every month. Recurring charges quietly use up an allowance.
Currently, the only workflow charge on HubSpot's public rate sheet is for AI actions inside workflows. Custom agents and HubSpot Work agents are billed in "action units", which vary by prompt; HubSpot shows an estimate when you test an agent during setup. Check the credit icon HubSpot shows next to each feature.
What happens when you run out
It depends on whether you've bought extra credits.
If you only have the included credits, credit-based features pause until your next monthly reset. The Customer Agent stops taking new conversations.
If you've bought at least one capacity pack, the default is auto-upgrade. HubSpot adds packs to cover the overage and keeps them on your bill for the rest of your contract. One busy month can raise your cost for the remaining term.
The alternative is pay-as-you-go. You pay a cent per extra credit that month, and your limit resets afterwards. You have to switch it on yourself, and only after buying a pack.
Admins can set spending caps for the whole account, for individual tools, and for individual buyer intent actions. HubSpot sends alerts at 75%, 85% and 90% of your allowance.
Free access periods
Some agents come with a free trial where they use no credits. Buying at least one Service Hub Professional or Enterprise seat currently gets you 14 days of Customer Agent use without credits. When the trial ends the agent switches off, and once you turn it back on it bills normally. Budget for the month after the trial, not the trial month.
Three worked examples
Volumes are illustrative. Rates are HubSpot's published rates at $10 per 1,000 credits; annual billing is 10% lower.
Support team on Service Hub Professional. 200 resolved conversations × 50 credits = 10,000 credits. The allowance covers 3,000, so you need 7 capacity packs: about $70 a month. Without packs, the agent stops after roughly 60 resolutions.
Multi-hub team on Customer Platform Professional. 50 prospecting leads × 100 = 5,000 credits. 300 Data Agent answers × 10 = 3,000. 2,000 AI workflow actions × 10 = 20,000. Total 28,000 against a 5,000 allowance, so 23 packs: about $230 a month. The workflows cost more than the agents.
Enterprise team monitoring 500 target accounts. 500 × 10 credits = 5,000 credits every month. That's the entire Enterprise allowance before anyone runs an agent.
Beta features to watch
Several agents are still in beta: custom agents, HubSpot Work agents, Knowledge Base Agent, Content Agent, Nurture Agent and Revenue Agent. HubSpot says beta features may start consuming credits later and aims to give 30 days' notice, though it notes that may not always be possible. If your plan depends on a beta feature, budget for it at the published rate from the start.
Where HubSpot pricing is heading
At its September 2026 Analyst Day, HubSpot presented a pricing model built on seats plus credits: seats for what people do, credits for what AI does. HubSpot also reported that Customer Agent drove about 60% of credit consumption in Q4 2025, with Data Agent, Prospecting Agent and intent monitoring at 10 to 15% each.
For buyers this changes what you plan for. The seat count you sign for is only part of the bill. The rest depends on how much work you hand to agents and automation, and that is hard to predict in year one.
What to ask your HubSpot rep
- How many credits will our planned agent and workflow usage consume each month?
- Will auto-upgrade or pay-as-you-go apply to us, and can we start on pay-as-you-go?
- Can a spending cap be set before go-live?
- Which of the features we plan to use are in beta and may start charging credits later?
- If we add a hub mid-term, does our allowance change?
- Can capacity packs be reduced at renewal?
