Are HubSpot onboarding fees mandatory?

Last verified September 28, 2026 · Next check October 28, 2026

Yes, for most Professional and Enterprise plans. HubSpot charges a one-time onboarding fee of $1,500 to $7,000 per hub: $3,000 or $7,000 for Marketing Hub, and $1,500 or $3,500 for Sales Hub and Service Hub. Starter plans have no onboarding fee. When a HubSpot Solutions Partner onboards you instead, HubSpot's fee can be waived.

Customer Platform: HubSpot's pricing page shows no onboarding fee for the bundle. HubSpot sells separate onboarding packages for it, priced on request, and Customer Platform buyers often have a partner deliver onboarding instead.

What the fee pays for

HubSpot's onboarding is a guided setup program run by HubSpot's own team. HubSpot describes it as a personalized onboarding plan based on your goals, company size, the products you bought and your tech stack. It runs in tracks for Customer Platform, Marketing Hub, Sales Hub and Service Hub.

HubSpot doesn't publish a detailed scope for each package on its pricing pages. Ask for the scope in writing before you sign, so you know what's covered: data migration, integrations, custom properties, workflows, training.

How much of year one it is

The onboarding fee is paid once, so it weighs most on your first year. At list prices, paid annually:

  • Marketing Hub Professional: $9,600 a year + $3,000 onboarding = $12,600. Onboarding is about 24% of year one.
  • Sales Hub Professional, 5 seats: $5,400 a year + $1,500 = $6,900. Onboarding is about 22% of year one.
  • Marketing Hub Pro plus Sales Hub Pro with 5 seats: $15,000 a year in subscriptions plus $4,500 of onboarding, if both fees apply.

Buying several hubs? Compare the Customer Platform, which has no fixed onboarding fee on its pricing page, and work out your own year one in the pricing calculator.

Can the onboarding fee be waived?

Yes, in one situation HubSpot describes publicly. HubSpot lets its Solutions Partners waive the HubSpot onboarding fee for their clients. The partner then delivers the onboarding instead of HubSpot.

This isn't a discount on the same service. You're swapping HubSpot's standard package for onboarding from the partner, who scopes and prices it separately. It can be better value when your setup needs more than a standard package covers, such as a migration, custom objects, integrations or a process redesign. It can also cost more. Compare scope, not just price.

When HubSpot's onboarding is likely to be enough

  • You're new to HubSpot, with a simple setup and a team that can follow a standard program.
  • You're buying one hub and want HubSpot's own team to run the setup.

When partner-led onboarding tends to fit better

  • You're migrating from another CRM, or bringing in data from several systems.
  • You need integrations with your ERP, billing or product data.
  • You're buying several hubs at once and want one team to set them up together.
  • You want the budget spent on your processes, not a standard curriculum.

What to ask your HubSpot rep

  1. Which onboarding fees apply to our quote, and are they charged per hub?
  2. If we buy several hubs, is there a single combined onboarding package?
  3. What exactly is in scope: migration, integrations, training?
  4. How long is the onboarding program, and what happens if we don't finish it in time?
  5. Can our Solutions Partner deliver onboarding instead, with the HubSpot fee waived?
  6. If we upgrade from Professional to Enterprise later, is there another onboarding fee?
